We offer a range of essential services designed to support farmers and communities. From providing access to quality inputs and modern farming training to facilitating market connections locally and internationally, our goal is to empower farmers and build sustainable agribusinesses.
Training in Modern Farming Methods
We train participants in modern farming techniques, including the use of natural fertilizers and other methods that help preserve the climate and protect the soil. They also learn how to operate farming machinery that is provided to them from time to time.
Plough / clear land ready for farming
Akasi Farm Initiative has acquired farming machinery that is readily available for beneficiaries to borrow and return as needed. The equipment is maintained by AFI to ensure it remains in good working condition and continues to support farmers efficiently.
Supply of Natural Farming Inputs
This is a service that is readily available and easy to execute because the farming seasons are well known and therefore natural fertilizers are supplied to all farms at the same times during the season and always on demand.
Funding Land Access for Agriculture
We allocated 200 acres out of the 402 acres of land for the participants without their own capital to learn and farm on for a period of one year. After that time they are able to lease their own land with our assistance.
Linking Farmers to Local & Global Markets
We supply markets in Kayunga district and the five surrounding districts. Once these markets are fully served, we expand to supply the international market.
Provide seeds
15 kgs of either different seeds (coffee, maize & beans) are distributed to the women within the registered 200 families and mentored through their first production.
Providing the community with water
A borehole was construction with the goal of providing clean and reliable water to the Kayunga community. This initiative aims to improve access to safe water for drinking, household use, and farming, ultimately enhancing the health and well-being of community members.
Provide veterinary services for the livestock
We have a team of qualified veterinary doctors available to provide animal health services to the community whenever needed. Their support ensures that livestock remain healthy and productive, helping farmers avoid losses and improve the overall success of their farming activities.
